Chris Pike
Electric Guitars, Acoustic Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele, Harmonica and Vocals
Place of birth: Northolt, an obscure town in West London
Place of residence: Birchington, a very obscure town in East Kent.
Earliest musical memories / influences: Probably hearing my sisters' 45s of various Beatles and Stones' hits and then learning to play The Shadows and The Byrds.
Favourite artists / bands: Too many to mention: The Beatles, The Band, Steely Dan, Paul Simon, Alison Krauss.....
The best single ever recorded: You Really Got Me or (I'm Dreaming of) a White Christmas. It's a tough choice.
The best album ever recorded: Abbey Road (The Beatles), The Band (The Band), Rumours (Fleetwood Mac), Graceland (Paul Simon). But I'm enjoying Coral Island by The Coral at the moment.
Best live concert ever attended: The Who at Charlton Athletic, Michael Jackson at Milton Keynes Bowl, Little Feat at the Rainbow, London. Locally, I really enjoyed seeing The Fat River Band when they were together.
Equipment used: Fender Stratocaster, Washburn (hollow body) HB 35S, PRS Custom 24, Rivera and Fender amplifiers, Kentucky mandolin, ukulele, various pedals and harmonicas.
Past bands and musical ventures: In the past few years: DNA, 60s Vibes, John Doggerel and the Bad Poets, local productions of musicals like 'We Will Rock You' and 'Bugsy Malone'.
What made you join the Crow wagon: Playing original material and some well-chosen covers. Continuing to develop as a vocalist and a musician by playing a range of styles and instruments.
Your visions, ambitions and expectations for The Old Country Crows: I'd like to play some more festivals and other other good venues, not simply being tight as a band but working towards being an entertainment that people will want to come and see.
I also look forward to recording songs in the future and seeing them released on CD.
Your favourite moment as a Crow: Reading Festival with the crowd shouting for more. (As yet to be realised).
The Crow song you wake up in the middle of the night singing: Probably the one I'm working on at the time e.g. Listen to Me or That's All I Know.
